NEW HANDS-FREE LAW - COMING JULY 1ST, 2008
Cell phone usage is the #1 factor in traffic collisions. So, starting July 1st, California drivers will be prohibited from using handheld cellular phones while driving – anywhere, anytime. There will be no grace period – CHP will begin issuing tickets immediately. Prepare to go hands-free today to avoid accidents and fines. HANDS-FREE DEVICES
Motorists 18 and older can speak on their cell phone while driving as long as they use a hands-free device or speakerphone. Try programming “511” into your phone to have quicker access to real-time traffic info at all times. Motorists under age 18 will be prohibited from using any electronic communications device, hands-free or not.
