Since December of 2002, 511 has been proudly serving Bay Area residents and visitors as the one-stop source for up-to-the minute transportation information. Each month, 511 gets millions of requests for real-time info and trip planning assistance from the web, phone, app, texting, and mobile features.

  No matter how you want to get there, 511 can help. Our tools and features include a transit trip planner, real-time transit information, up-to-the minute traffic conditions and driving times, ridesharing services, bicycling information, and most recently, parking information.

  Since its launch in 2002, 511 has received over 48 million calls and 195 million web visits. Additionally, more than 45,000 people use our 511 RideMatch Service and 75,000 people plan trips on their smartphone with the 511 SF Bay Transit app. Not to mention, there’s over 11,000 followers on Twitter. Now that’s a lot of informed travelers!

  Help When You Need It

  511 is the go-to source during transportation emergencies, like the 2007 MacArthur Maze collapse, and during planned bridge and freeway closures. Travelers turn to 511 for information on current conditions, alternate routes and detours, transit options, and temporary carpool matching.

  Let’s Have Some Fun

  511 is a proud supporter of regional events and festivities, helping people get to their destination as quickly as possible, so they can spend more time having fun, and less time traveling. Most recently, 511 partnered with the 34^th America’s Cup, the third largest international sporting event, and helped Giants fans get to the World Series games and parade.

  511 will soon launch several new travel tools and upgrades: a new mobile 511 Parking page; real-time data added to the 511 Transit App and the 511 Enhanced Trip Planner (try out the beta now); another new web based app for real-time departures, the "511 Transit Tracker;" and real-time transit info for Caltrain, SamTrans, and VTA.
