Using 511 for Bay Area Airport Transportation Info

Using 511 on the Phone
Call 511 during business hours to help plan your trips to and from the airports. When you hear the Main Menu, ask for “Airports.” You can choose between San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, and Sacramento Airports. For each airport, you can get traffic conditions, parking rates, or ground and public transportation information. Oakland Airport also provides updated information on parking availability.

To get current travel times to and from the airport, ask for “Driving Times”. The system will guide you through the Driving Times function, and you can choose an airport as a starting or ending point simply by saying the name of the airport. 511 will then give you the current travel time, traffic speeds, and any current incidents for your trip to the airport. Driving Times to and from SFO and Oakland Airport are now available, and Driving Times to and from San Jose Airport will be up by early 2005. Driving Times to the Sacramento Airport are not currently available.

Using 511.org
At 511.org, you can plan your trips to and from the airport. Motorists can use our online Driving Times and incident information. If you want to take public transit, use 511's TakeTransit Trip PlannerSM. This interactive tool creates step-by-step instructions for getting to and from the airport using public transportation, including an itinerary with schedules, fares, transfer locations, and walking directions. To plan your trip, just type in your starting address and type in the airport of your choice (Oakland Airport, SFO, etc.) as your destination.
